Dan Fogelman, creator of decade-spanning relationship drama This Is Us, seems to be a big fan of ambitious storytelling projects. His latest reported project, entitled, naturally, Life, Itself, has a similar premise to his NBC show: One couple leads a story that spans many years and relationships and generations, taking them from America to Spain and back again. Annette Bening, fresh off her starring turn in last year’s 20th Century Women, is the latest to join the all-star cast that includes Oscar Isaac, Olivia Wilde, Antonio Banderas, and Samuel L. Jackson.

The Hollywood Reporter had no information about exactly who Bening will be playing, but did say that the show was currently filming on location in both New York and Seville, Spain. Per THR:

The story centers on a couple (Oscar Isaac and Olivia Wilde) that lead a multigenerational love story spanning both decades and continents, from the streets of New York to the Spanish countryside, and are all connected by a single event.

Bening is in high-demand after Mike Mills’ 20th Century Women turned into a small hit last year. She’s set to star as former Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco in Ryan Murphy’s next American Crime Story season focusing on Hurricane Katrina.
