Here’s a funny thought for you: someone is about to be swayed into seeing Blade Runner 2049 by this new batch of character posters. I’ve written before that Blade Runner 2049 doesn’t really have much left to prove to audiences  —  you’re likely already in or out, and have been for quite some time  —  but that doesn’t apply to everyone. Somewhere, on some website, somebody is going to look at this international poster of Ryan Gosling and think to themselves for the first time, oh, yeah, I think this might actually be a movie I want to see. Job well done, graphic designers.

As uncovered by ComicBookMovie.com (via Heroic Hollywood), Warner Bros. has released a brand new batch of international posters for Blade Runner 2049, each one focused on a different character. While the posters offer a little splash of color to go along with all the dystopian grey, there’s also, well, a bit more airbrushing going on than some of us might like. Take a look for yourself:

It’s also worth noting that we’re inching closer to the time when the first Blade Runner 2049 reactions will start hitting the internet, so enjoy the relative quiet of these last few days. Those of you who have waited decades to see a faithful successor to Blade Runner will be faced with the good or bad of the movie in no time at all, so let’s appreciate that, for now at least, Blade Runner 2049 is the Schrödinger’s cat of blockbuster sequels. It may be great, it may be terrible, but we have no way of knowing yet, and that’s kind of comforting.

Here’s the full plot synopsis for Blade Runner 2049:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

In addition to Gosling, Blade Runner 2049 will star Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, Dave Bautista, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, and Mackenzie Davis. The film will be released into theaters on October 6, 2017.
