I remember our first kickboxing class a few weeks ago.  At the end, I fell to the floor huffing and puffing and said to Bruce "We've got 10 more weeks of this!"

Well, here we are... already halfway through week number four.  It's going very quickly.

While I'm sure you want to hear about my body changing dramatically and that I'm getting hired to pose for swimsuit calendars, I would like to use this weeks blog to tell you some of the interesting things I'm finding about food.

In the Farrell's program, you try to eat 6 smaller meals a day.  That includes a protein, carb, vegetables and water.

Eating more often keeps cravings at bay, so you're less likely to binge on something bad for you.  Also, keeping a steady stream of protein and carbs helps with muscle recovery.

If you're doing your six workouts each week and eating properly, the program at Farrell's actually encourages you to have a fun day each Sunday.  This gives you a break both mentally and physically.  You want to eat a pizza?  Have at it!  Been thinking about donuts all week?  Enjoy!  You've earned it!

That leads me to my personal observation for this week.  Last weekend I took my son, Jacob and his cousin, Gabe out for pizza and bowling.

We started with dinner at Shot Tower.  I asked the boys what flavor pizza they wanted and when I went to order I carefully decided to order a pizza one size smaller than I normally would have.  (I did get an order of cheese curds, too.)

I got the boys lemonade and stuck with water, as I've been taught it's silly to drink your calories.

When the food came, we each enjoyed a few slices.  I indulged in both pizza and cheese curds (as I worked hard all week), but I realized I was slowing down quicker than usual.

Now the old Chris would have seen three pieces of pizza and a few curds left and finished off the rest of the food.  Instead, I snapped a quick picture of what I DIDN'T eat and packed it into a box to take home.

For me, that's progress.

If you've been struggling to find something that works for you, I'm begging you to check out THE FARRELL'S WEBSITE, or at least give Kip or Laci a call at 563-564-7696 so you can ask about the next class starting April 9th!
