Yesterday I blogged a bit about the end of week 5.  I was so busy and tired that I wanted to skip class... but I didn't!  Before we move into week 6, I have one more thing to share with you.

Some results!  We're five weeks in and Saturday we had our week-five fitness assessment.  This is a chance to check our numbers to see our progress over the first few weeks.

We take measurements on our legs, arms, hips and waist.  We take a body fat reading and get weighed before we do a 60-second sit-up and push-up test.  We also get a chance to run a mile (although due to the cold and ice we had trouble getting this done in both week one and five)!

So... how'd we do?

I went from 270.6 pounds to 252.2 pounds!  I lost one percent of body fat.  I lost inches in my chest, waist, hips and thighs, while my arms got a quarter of an inch bigger!

Better yet, I did seven more push-ups and 5 more sit-ups from our initial testing 5 weeks ago!  Progress!

Bruce went from 268.4 to 254.6 pounds!  He lost 3 percent of body fat.  He also lost inches in his chest, waist, hips, arms and thighs!

He also added 9 more push-ups and 18 more sit-ups!  What a stud!

After all the hard work, it was very rewarding to see really nice numbers.  Not only did I feel great all weekend, it's given me a new energy to work harder as we continue on the second half of this 10-week journey.

After 5 hard weeks I took full advantage of my fun day, treating myself to the breakfast brunch/buffet at Hy-vee on Dodge Street.

Valentine's Day was sweet and my wife has even picked up on my cues by carefully selecting me fruit, cheese and nuts instead of candies!

To say things are going great would be a tremendous understatement!  We're seeing results and feeling good.  Life is great!
