Today me and Bruce started week 10 at Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping... our FINAL week of the 10-week challenge.

It takes me a bit to get to my point this week, so bear with me.

10 weeks ago, our usual afternoon routine consisted of picking up Jacob from school and heading home.  He jumps on the tablet or watches television, mom checks in on social media and dad pulls out the computer to write a blog.

Here we are, 10 weeks later.

It was gorgeous weather on Friday, so I suggested to mom we go do some stomping at the Mines of Spain.

"Don't take your shoes off, Jake!"

We dropped off our stuff and piled back into the minivan.  A short drive later we found ourselves at the entrance to the Mines of Spain.  Jacob saw the long path and got excited and ran almost instantly the first 200 feet, just to see what he could find.

Jake and I made our way up the path with a lot of steps so we could catch the view from the bluff.  We made our way to the top and tried shouting down to mom.

We backtracked down the steps and took the lower path up and around the bend until we found the water running along the path.  Jacob had to walk down to the water and inspect, which you can see in the pic above.

Later we made our way back up the path and crossed some runners, who were nice enough to slow down to say hello.  When they starting running again, Jacob gave his best effort to run behind them, then slowed down to wait for mom and dad.

Later, we headed up to Julien Dubuque's grave.  We took a moment to walk around and take a few more pictures.  The weather was so awesome!

It felt good to get out and exercise.

Sunday we thought about spending a rainy day at the movies, but then realized we've been waiting to make the drive to Cedar Rapids for a visit to the Sky Zone Trampoline Park.

We had a blast with our friends Aaron and Addisyn and jumped to the point of exhaustion.  They have a big area of trampolines, some basketball hoops you can dunk on, a dodge ball court and a huge foam pit to bounce into.

(SIDE NOTE... IF YOU'RE GOING... ONE HOUR IS MORE THAN ENOUGH!)

By the end of our session, I was sweating like a pig.  Next time we go I'll be wearing shorts instead of jeans.  I'll also take a t-shirt to change into so I don't stink all the way home!  It was a total workout!

So now to the point.  While we weren't very active just 10 weeks ago, we're finding more enjoyment by getting out of the house.  After working out at Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping I'm feeling much better.  I have more energy and I find myself looking for reasons to get out of the house and get active.

After doing a little extra, I also don't feel so guilty eating my treats during my 'fun day' on Sundays.

I know it's easier said than done, but get active!  Show your family it's a good thing to get moving.  I think our kids get sedentary because we do, too!  They want to get out of the house and exercise... you just need to give them a reason, and lead by example!

If you're feeling run down, think about exploring the next 10-week session starting Saturday, April 9th at Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping.  You can call 563.564.7696 or click HERE for the Farrell's website.

In fact, you can SIGN UP HERE and have a chance to win a free 10-week session that we'll be giving away in a few weeks!

Thanks for reading my blog.  Have a great week!
