Now that Amazon and  Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens has the heavenly casting of David Tennant and Michael Sheen under its belt, hell is officially breaking loose. Table reads have begun for the 2018 limited series based on Terry Pratchett’s work, so sneak a peek at Tennant and Sheen’s new looks!

Good Omens is based on Gaiman and the late Sir Terry Pratchett’s acclaimed novel of the same name, which follows the angel Aziraphale (Sheen)  and the demon Crowley (Tennant) attempting to prevent the End Times, as set in motion by the birth of Satan’s son. Gaiman will write and showrun (production begins this week), and the first table read brought with it both looks at the biblical duo’s dyed hair, and a number of props:

At the read through. We brought the book.

So reads the synopsis:

Good Omens takes place in 2018 when the Apocalypse is near and Final Judgment is set to descend upon humanity. According to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter Witch (the world’s only completely accurate book of prophecies), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner.

So the armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, and tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except Aziraphale, a somewhat fussy angel, and Crowley, a fast-living demon—both of whom have lived amongst Earth’s mortals since The Beginning and have grown rather fond of the lifestyle—are not actually looking forward to the coming war. And… someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

Various other photos have also revealed Better Call Saul alum(?) Michael McKean playing Shadwell, and Jack Whitehall as Newt. Amazon also officially confirms True Detective alum Adria Arjona will play Anathema Device, practical occultist and descendant of the ancient witch Agnes Nutter, while Nina Sosanya will play Sister Mary Loquacious of the Chattering Order of St Beryl, along with Ned Dennehy as Duke of Hell Hastur and Ariyon Bakare as fellow Duke of Hell Ligur.

Executive produced by Gaiman with Doctor Who alum Caroline Skinner and Fleabag producer Chris Sussman, Rob Wilkins and Rod Brown, Good Omens will start as a global release on Amazon Prime Video, and eventually broadcast on the BBC afterward.

We’ll see more as Good Omens production gears up, so stay tuned.
