Every month, Judy from Big Apple Bagels selects a different local organization to help in the tristates.  Mentor Dubuque was lucky enough to get selected and we learned a little bit about them this morning on the Y105 Wake-Up.

First things first... what's delicious at Big Apple Bagels, at 1675 JFK Road?  Judy mentioned they do feature fresh soups every day, so if you need a warm up, pop by or call for details on each days featured flavors.

Every Monday through February, a portion of the proceeds raised with be donated to Mentor Dubuque.

Kalynn told us a little bit about the organization.  They depend on community support to operate and are a branch of Hillcrest Family Services.  Mentor Dubuque matches mentors with youth to build long-term, one-to-one relationships.

Sadly, there is always a waiting list of kids looking for a mentor... more boys than girls.

Mentors are always needed, so if you think you have a few hours to give, you can call Kalynn at 563-845-0768 or at the MENTOR DUBUQUE FACEBOOK PAGE.

They'll also be having their annual 'Bowl Dubuque' for Mentor Dubuque event on Friday night, April 15th at Creslanes in Dubuque, so get a team together and have some fun!  (You can call Kalynn for details on that, too and other ways you can help!)

Keep in mind, order BIG every Monday through February at Big Apple Bagels to help.  They also keep donation canisters in store if you'd like to contribute additionally.

Take some time and think about making a positive difference in a kid's life today.
