Jack Harlow Freestyle: Watch Rapper Reflect on His Come Up

Jack Harlow has come a long way since XXL profiled him for The Break back in January. Since that time, he's dropped off a mixtape (Loose) and inked himself a joint venture deal with Atlantic Records and Don Cannon's Generation Now imprint while establishing himself as one of the industry's brighter up-and-coming talents. That come up, along with people's self-destructive internet habits, is something Harlow addresses in his freestyle for the latest edition of XXL's What I Do series.

Spitting for about a minute, Harlow, who's made a name for himself through melody and solid bars, emits calm self-assurance as he dismisses internet haters and reflects on his transition to life as a soon-to-be rap star.

"I don't read into opinions on the internet/Step outside and get a breath and get the fuck up off of Reddit/It's often said that y'all ain't rappers, man, y'all all aesthetics/We used to fantasize and now we checking off the checklist/These fellas used to hate on me but now they lost a credit/'Cause they wanna do it to, but it's gon' cost a second," he raps.

Jack Harlow is now a few months removed from dropping off his Loose project, and if YouTube views are any indication, he's enjoyed a serious glow-up. That rise in fame coincided with his increased work ethic.

"After moving to Atlanta and after being with Don Cannon, every night we go to the studio," Harlow said when he stopped by XXL to deliver his freestyle. "It's been a lot of recording and a lot of shows and festivals."

While Harlow is happy to be out and about in the rap game, he's made it clear that he's still sort of figuring out this rap star thing as he goes. "It's never really been like this before. It's a lot of learning," he adds. "I'm just kicking it. Just trying to grow as a man."
