The stars were out in New York last night (May 1) for the 2017 Met Gala. One particularly fun moment from the event occurred when Jaden Smith got designer Diane Von Furstenberg to dance to Playboi Carti's song "Magnolia." The two were clearly loving the record as much as the millions of other people who have heard it.

"Magnolia" is the clear standout track from Carti's debut mixtape, which dropped a few weeks ago. A major reason for its popularity is the hypnotic production of Pierre Bourne, who XXL recently spoke to for in-depth discussion about his career. In the interview, Bourne explained how he ended up with six beats on Carti's highly anticipated project.

"The first time I talked to [Carti], he called me like, “Bro, I love your beats, man. We gotta cook up. I’ll be back in the A soon,'" Bourne said. "He was telling me he was about to move back to the A and everything. So I knew this going into February, so I just made sure I had some beats for him. And he started hitting me up to come to the studio. It was weird because it was just that one song, and then we kept doing another song and he just kept adding it to the tape. And I was like, “Bro, you’ve been working on this shit for like three years. You can’t just erase what you already had for the tape.”
