The thing about scary villains who use creepy puppets of themselves to communicate with their victims is that, at the end of the day, there really could be anyone behind that distorted voice. The Jigsaw of the Saw franchise is known by everyone at this point to be a man suffering from terminal cancer who just wants the people around him to appreciate their lives a little more. Also, he’s dead. He died at the end of Saw III and has been seen only in flashbacks ever since. But as he now has a band of followers to carry on his legacy, it looks like the mantle has been taken up by another for the latest film in the series, Jigsaw.

The new poster that debuted today even posits that anyone can be Jigsaw. You can be Jigsaw! You can be Jigsaw! Even you can be Jigsaw! Isn’t that great?

That’s one of the pig head masks that Jigsaw’s followers traditionally use when they’re tracking down victims. Looks like the poster is inviting you to take that mask right off that hat rack and carry on the Saw legacy.

Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?

Jigsaw opens in theaters October 27.
