This morning on the Y105 Wake Up (I was filling in for Chris Farber), Tom Rauen stopped by to chat about tomorrow's (Saturday) JDRF Dubuque Walk to Cure Diabetes event. If you're available tomorrow morning and would like to enjoy a DRY morning walk near the river, I encourage you to sign up and help support the fight against type 1, or juvenile, diabetes.

The walk begins at AY McDonald Park at 10 a.m. and can be for however long you'd like to participate. The loop around the park is 1 mile, but if you'd like to keep walking, many will do so. Do whatever feels comfortable for you as this isn't a competition.

You can pre-register online by clicking HERE.

Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.

As you can imagine, there are daily challenges with T1D, which involves a 24/7, unrelenting cycle of blood sugar testing and insulin injections to manage the disease.

Help support research to find a cure and get some exercise tomorrow morning!
