Don't get mad: Get famous!

On Thursday (September 22), Kate Winslet appeared in an interview on The Today Show to promote her new film, The Dressmaker. During the chat, she spoke about being bullied as a young girl and how her success in Hollywood, as well as in life, has been the best "revenge" on her childhood tormentors.

As the film centers on a successful couture designer who returns to her small hometown in Australia to care for her sick mother and, in doing so, runs into folks from her past, Winslet was asked if she ever had the opportunity to exact "sweet revenge" in real life.

"I was kind of bullied when I was younger actually at school," the Oscar-winning actress admitted to host Billy Bush. "For being chubby...and I had girls who were envious of me because I was acting a little bit as a teenager."

Winslet continued, "So this is my revenge. This right here. This lovely career that I have been blessed with. I have healthy children, you know, I have a really happy life and to me it's like, 'Look at me now, girls!'"

As for the moment which felt the most satisfying, well, it's not difficult to guess that the once-bullied movie star's career-making turn alongside Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio in 1997's iconic blockbuster, Titanic, was wholly validating.

"Let’s just say that was a very, very sweet moment," Winslet confirmed.
