Days before Christmas, Compton, Calif. rapper Kendrick Lamar previewed his first collaborative shoe with Nike, the Cortez sneaker. Now Nike announces the release date of this much-anticipated collab.

Kendrick’s forthcoming sneaker—initially dubbed as the “Don’t Trip” pair—will be called the Cortez Kenny 1 and feature a multi-colored canvas. With the side panels dressed in a gym red colorway, the sneakers also include a white hue on the toe front, tongue, midsole and Swoosh branding. In addition, Nike complements the Cortez sneaker with hints of black detailed on the midsole, shoe laces and the Don’t Trip tagging, which is featured across the tongue of each shoe. Rounding out the sneaker's look are Chinese letters embroidered on the side panels of the kicks, giving the shoes the ultimate Kung Fu Kenny touch.

After leaving the Reebok brand in summer of 2017, Kendrick announced his partnership with Nike. Posting on Twitter an image of himself wearing the Nike Cortez shoe last week, the hip-hop superstar left many wondering about a possible collaboration.

The Nike Cortez Kenny 1 sneakers will released at nike.com on Sun., Jan. 28, at 7:30 p.m. EST. Look for the collaborative shoes to retail for a suggested price of $100.
