In September, Kesha revealed "Here Comes The Change," a powerful ballad she penned for On The Basis of Sex, an upcoming film that tells the story of a young Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her husband Marty's fight against gender discrimination. On the eve of the Midterm Election (November 5), the pop star shared the song's official video.

The visuals splice black and white footage of the singer playing guitar, a bass drum, and harmonica in an abandoned attic while wearing a full evening gown with never before seen clips from the movie. As the song progresses, Kesha finds herself in different parts of the house and eventually sings on a staircase covered in photos of civil rights leaders, including Martin Luther King, Jr. and RBG.

Mimi Leder, the film's director, personally sought out the "Rainbow" singer "because her passionate voice and immense talent magnify the social justice imperatives Ruth Bader Ginsburg continues to fight for every day."

"When I was first approached to write a song for the movie, I thought I was the wrong person for the job. For me, songwriting is such a personal process and it is almost always inspired by things I’ve experienced in my own life. The idea that I should be writing about someone else’s life, and that person would be Ruth Bader Ginsburg, was intimidating," Kesha wrote in an essay for Refinery 29.

"But after seeing the film, I was inspired. It was amazing to see Ginsburg’s story of leading a campaign that successfully changed laws that discriminated against Americans purely
on the basis of their sex, as the film title suggests," she continued. "In watching the film I was struck by how much Ginsburg was able to accomplish in her life, and at the same time, how much more there is to do in the fight for equality for all people. It reminded me of — and strengthened — my belief that any single person can make lasting change, starting with one small action. I wanted to do what I could to pay tribute to Ginsburg, who has spent a lifetime fighting tirelessly for equality, with no signs of slowing down. I wanted to make my voice heard, too."

On The Basis of Sex is slated for a December 25 release date, and the Midterm Election will be underway on Tuesday (November 6).
