Kiiara Performs Moving Tribute to Chester Bennington During Recent Show

Rising pop star Kiiara, still reeling from the shocking death of her recent duet partner, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington, paid tribute to the singer at New York City's Panorama Festival over the weekend.

Just a few songs into her gig at the festival's indoor Parlor Stage the pop artist addressed the singer’s passing. "It's been… a pretty rough week," she lamented. "I don't know what to say and there's nothing really to say to make it better, but these next two songs are for Chester."

She sat silently and somberly as "Battle Symphony," a track off Linkin Park's latest album, One More Light, played in honor of the singer. Shortly after, "Heavy" began to play with the video in the background and Bennington's recorded vocals. Kiiara and her band filled in their parts live. When the song ended, Kiiara simply said, "Thank you, New York," and quickly left the stage.

Just last week the singer wrote a heartfelt tribute letter on Twitter to Bennington, saying that she could not stop crying every time she was reminded that he was "no longer here." "Chester, you brought an energy to every room and somehow made every moment, no matter what it was, seem carefree. You brought this lightness with you. There was never a dull moment. You'd find a way to make everyone laugh. Like that day in rehearsals, you sang 'Heavy' in pretty much every accent I can think of."

"Heavy" was the first single from Linkin Park’s last album, One More Light, which came out just a few short months ago. The track featured Kiiara and Bennington collaborating with a decidedly lighter and more pop-driven sound than previous Linkin Park music.

Bennington was found dead in his home in Palos Verdes, Calif., by one of his employees on July 20. A Los Angeles County coroner confirmed that the cause of death was "suicide by hanging." Bennington was 41.
