Post Malone has broken a chart record set by the King of Pop. The Texas rapper's debut album Stoney logged its 77th week in the Top 10 of Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart dated Aug. 11, surpassing Michael Jackson's 1982 album Thriller for the most all time.

Post's debut, released in December 2016, features his breakout hit "White Iverson" and the Quavo-featuring single "Congratulations." It went platinum after four months and ultimately spent three weeks at No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

With estimated sales around 66 million, Thriller remains the best-selling album of all time, but Post's achievement testifies to the changing nature of the Billboard charts, which have grown less sales-focused in the digital era. The company started including streaming metrics in its calculations in February 2017.

Other streaming-era albums that appear in the top 10 for most weeks spent in the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart's Top 10 include Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' The Heist (59 weeks) and Bruno Mars' 24K Magic (54 weeks).

Post continued his chart dominance in April with Stoney's follow-up, Beerbongs & Bentleys. The album broke a first-day Spotify streaming record upon its release and was certified platinum in its first week.
