Quavo Teases ‘Culture National Anthem’ [LISTEN]

Quavo has shared a snippet of what is assumedly his version of the national anthem.

The rapper answered a petition that circulated last year during the height of the anthem protests led by Colin Kaepernick. Fans asked him to record a verse to add to "The Star Spangled Banner"— the petition garnered over 9,000 signatures. At the time, Quavo said he was down with the idea to record a new version.

“There’s a lot going behind the national anthem,” Quavo told TMZ last year. “I would love to do it, but I wanna do a 2017 national anthem for both people and all races. Something that’s representing now. Something that representing the modern day national anthem.”

All that to say, he dropped off the snippet on Twitter yesterday, just in time for Martin Luther King Day. 

"Mama told me break out of these chains and son you'll go far," he says on the track.

The visuals for the teaser features footage of MLK and ends with "II" which is an obvious reference to Migos's upcoming album, Culture II, which arrives on Jan. 26.
