Nas, Logic & More to Appear in New Documentary ‘Rapture'

Hip-hop may have gotten its start on the streets of New York City, but a new documentary looks to explore the genre's impact on the global culture.

Starring Nas, Logic, 2 Chainz, Dave East, T.I., Rapsody, G-Eazy, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Just Blaze and more, Rapture will dive into the lives of rappers, showing you their family and friends, taking you into the studio and placing the viewer on tour with the rappers.

“Way back, when hip hop culture was in its gestational phase, the powerful message therein didn’t go much further than the five boroughs of New York City. Today, rap music is the heartbeat of Mother Earth, and Netflix is the embodiment of the eyes from which she sees,” said Sacha Jenkins of Mass Appeal, the team behind the documentary.

“It is a great honor for Mass Appeal to work with Netflix to produce our new series Rapture," Jenkins added. "We’ve been telling hip hop stories since ’96, and as natives we feel it is our duty to do the movement justice. Rapture is bangin’. Straight up.”

Directed by a team of directors including Jenkins, Ben Selkow, Zana Lawrence and Geete Gandbhir, the eight-episode documentary premieres on March 30 on Netflix.

In related news, Nas and Dave East recently joined Lin-Manuel Miranda and Aloe Blacc for the powerful "Wrote My Way Out" video. Featured on The Hamilton Mixtape, the black-and-white visuals feature the four artists atop a building as they overlook New York City.
