While we wait to learn if Jake Gyllenhaal is officially joining Spider-Man: Far From Home as Tom Holland’s new foe, another actor has been enlisted for Peter Parker’s next adventure: JB Smoove, the comedian and actor best known for playing Leon on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, has reportedly joined the Homecoming sequel in an undisclosed role.

Deadline reports that Smoove has signed on to star opposite Tom “Loose Lips” Holland in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is set to start filming soon for a 2019 release. Smoove will take part in the Sony and Marvel co-production before returning to work with Larry David on another season of Curb. Although details on Smoove’s Spidey role were not revealed, Deadline says that he’ll be playing “a lead in the ensemble” — one of Peter Parker’s teachers, perhaps? Let the speculation begin!

Smoove joins a cast that includes returning stars Holland, Zendaya (as M.J.), Marisa Tomei (as Aunt May) and Jacob Batalon (as Ned Leeds), with Michael Keaton also reportedly reprising his role as Vulture. Jake Gyllenhaal is said to be in talks to join Far From Home as the villain Mysterio, though his casting has yet to be officially confirmed. In the Marvel comics, Mysterio is a former stuntman and VFX wizard who uses his skills to become a super villain.

Homecoming director Jon Watts is returning to helm Far From Home, which will hit theaters on July 5, 2019.
