Last week was really busy.  When things got back to normal today I knew this had to be my first blog of the week!

Yes, our 14th annual radiothon for Children's Miracle Network and the University of Iowa is in the books.

Last Wednesday and Thursday we spent two entire days telling stories of families from the tristate area that have been affected by these two great organizations.

As you can see from the photo, we raised another $62,923.11!  When I say we, I don't just mean the folks at Y105.  I mean me and you!

I can tell you a million reasons why I love the Children's Miracle Network.  I have met so many families who have been so brave to have experienced a (sometimes terrible) experience and then find it in their heart to stand in front of a microphone to relive their story for all to hear.

I was thrilled to hear about a new procedure being used in the hospital called hypothermia therapy, that will keep an individual from getting brain damage after a lack of oxygen to the brain.

In fact one of our longtime supporters, Lisa, lost her son Samuel years ago.  Her family chose to continue supporting research and new treatments that may have made a difference for their family.

If hypothermia therapy had existed then, who knows?

This year we spoke with a mom whose child received the therapy and now shows absolutely no sign of brain damage!

It goes to show you that money you donate that goes to research is SAVING MORE LIVES!

I want to also thank our friends from the University of Iowa Children's Hospital and the Children's Miracle Network who uproot their lives for a few days to pull of the event.  Thanks to our generous volunteers who help man the phone-bank, and the families who show up every year to help any way possible.

Also, thanks to the hardworking staff at the radio station for keeping things running smooth over the week of radiothon.

Again, my heartfelt thanks to you on helping us make this another successful year!

Godbless!
