The original Poltergeist is the Trojan Horse of movies; it had a PG rating which fooled millions of parents to allow their single-digit-aged children to watch thinking it was a harmless little horror movie. WRONG!

There were two movies that caused me to take a sleeping bag into my parents room at night because I was so terrified after watching them: Aliens and Poltergeist. The big difference between those two movies is the former had an R rating, while the latter was PfreakingG!

Do you know what that does to a 10-year old's psyche when they can't sleep at night because a movie that had the same rating as Turner and Hooch is haunting their dreams?! Maybe you do. The last thing you want to do is admit that a PG movie is forcing you to sleep with a light on.

After all of these years, I found out tonight that the 1982 Poltergeist was originally rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), but supposedly Steven Spielberg (Producer) managed to talk them down to a PG rating. Whoever allowed this to happen should've been summarily fired!

The 2015 Poltergeist is rated PG-13 and will open at Mindframe Theaters with showings at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Thursday. Check out the trailer below:
