Years before Jack Dawson (fictional character played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose DeWitt Bukater (fictional character played by Kate Winslett) tugged on the heartstrings of America, I read a book about the Titanic and, like many, have been fascinated ever since.

Needless to say, I'm very excited to experience the newest exhibit at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium: Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition! Here's what the National Mississippi River Museum's website has to say about the exhibit:

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition takes you on a journey back in time to experience the legend of Titanic like never before. The galleries in this fascinating Exhibition feature real artifacts recovered from the ocean floor along with room re-creations and personal stories. Engineering, physics and social studies are all addressed as you explore the science of Titanic. The Exhibition has been designed with a focus on the legendary RMS Titanic’s compelling human stories as best told through over 150 authentic artifacts and extensive room re-creations.  Perfume from a maker who was traveling to New York to sell his samples, china etched with the logo of the elite White Star Line, even a pair of almost perfectly preserved men’s dress shoes — these and many other authentic objects offer haunting, emotional connections to lives abruptly ended or forever altered.

There's something eerily fascinating about seeing artifacts recovered from the wreck in person. While you're there, make sure you check out 'James Cameron's Deep Sea Challenge 3D! The exhibit will be open May 23rd through September 7th.
