Kanye West Is Hospitalized After Canceling Saint Pablo Tour – Today in Hip-Hop

2016: Fresh off the news that Kanye West had canceled the remainder of his Saint Pablo tour, reports surfaced that the storied rapper had voluntarily checked himself into the UCLA Medical Center in the Los Angeles area for evaluation after suffering from exhaustion and sleep deprivation.

At the time, West was reportedly with his personal trainer, Harley Pasternak, with sources close to the rapper explaining that the decision to admit him into professional medical care was for “his own health and safety.” According to reports, the hospital visit was under the consultation of his personal physician.

He would later be hospitalized for just over a week, before continuing his recovery at home with his wife Kim Kardashian and his children.

Prior to his hospitalization, the rapper shockingly expressed his support for now-President Donald Trump, revealing to his fans that if he voted, he would have voted for Trump and going on to urge Black people to “stop focusing on racism.”

In the time that followed, West would go on to publicly meet with Trump, later remove his controversial tweets about the 45th president before deleting his social media and entering a lengthy hiatus out of the spotlight.

At the end of 2017, it was revealed that West was working on executive producing albums for each artist on the G.O.O.D. Music roster. That concept began to come to fruition in the spring of this year with a series of projects spearheaded by Yeezy that were released over the course several weeks between May and June. The extended roll-out included Pusha T's acclaimed Daytona album, Kanye's solo effort, Ye, his joint album with Kid Cudi titled, Kids See Ghosts, Nasir from Nas and Teyana Taylor's K.T.S.E. 

Since Ye's full-blown return to the limelight over the course of 2018, the College Dropout has been shrouded in controversy ranging from his most recent visit with President Trump to wearing his "Make America Great Again" hat during his appearance on Saturday Night Live.

Last week, the "I Love It" rapper/producer announced that he will be once again be delaying his next album, Yandhi, citing the fact he doesn't think it's ready for release yet.
