Tory Lanez Fights Against Police Brutality in “Shooters” Video
Tory Lanez is currently gearing up to release his anticipated Memories Don’t Die album soon, and we’ve finally received one of the main singles on the project, “Shooters.” Now, the Toronto singer releases the innovative visuals for the track, which tells a heart-wrenching story of police brutality.
Diving into an intense story, Tory and his friend attempt to carry out vengeance on a cop who murdered the hip-hop superstar’s cousin, which they soon find out doesn’t exactly bring the most effective outcome. Before the video’s beginning, the “Skrt Skrt” vocalist posts a strong disclaimer and message, unveiling his inspiration behind the visuals.
“I made this intro because I felt that this was art that I needed to get off my chest as a result of the things many people have seen or experienced daily,” he writes. “I do not endorse any form of brutality. I do not feel like violence is the answer. However, in times of duress like we’re experiencing now, as a community, I believe that it is our responsibility to share our fears and concerns so that we may learn to support one another better.”
Tory also shares what he hopes viewers take away from the powerful video, which is nearly 6 minutes long.
“I hope that this video makes you feel something – no matter what it is that you feel,” he continues. “As always – I am grateful to all of those who support me or for anyone who gave me the opportunity to express myself.”
