Riverdale's stars are usually pretty good at keeping a lid on spoilers, but Camila Mendes may have just unintentionally let a major detail slip. (For those who've yet to catch up on the show, here's your requisite spoiler alert. Seriously, stop reading if you haven't seen the finale. Okay? Okay.)

Now that that's settled, let's review, shall we? Last we saw Archie, he was being escorted off to jail for the murder of Cassidy, the man gunned down by the Lodge's bodyguard, Andre, after he tried to rob their family cabin. Viewers well know he didn't do it, but Hiram is on the war path, so he orchestrated Archie's arrest as a preemptive strike because he is apparently very concerned that this teen is going to singlehandedly take down his budding mafia operation.

Anyway, this left Archie's fate very uncertain for Season 3, and cast and crew alike have heavily hinted he'll spend some time behind bars, or otherwise facing some thorny legal trouble.

“The prospect of Archie on trial is pretty delicious,” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa recently told TVLine, adding that "the prospect of Archie in a juvenile detention center" was also very appealing.

Except for that, in a recent series of Instagram stories, Archie appears to be out and about enjoying the summer with the rest of his Riverdale gang. In a snap shared by Mendes, who plays Veronica Lodge, he's seen riding around in the car shirtless and in swim trunks ― not quite the getup (or the attitude) you'd expect for someone who's looking at doing serious time in prison.

The logical conclusion is that Mendes and KJ Apa, who plays Archie, are just hanging out outside of work, as the Riverdale stars often do, except she'd just shared several other stories of her goofing around on-set. Adding further fuel to the fire, Apa himself also posted a shirtless photo with the caption, "You guys are in for a treat," seemingly confirming this particular outfit ― or lack thereof  ― was, indeed, for filming.

Certainly, it could be from a flashback or a scene in a much later episode, but all signs point to Archie getting out of jail at least by season's end. We'll find out for sure when Riverdale returns October 10, but in the meantime, keep an eye on the cast's Instas for more hints.
