In the final days of 2016, rapper Soulja Boy sat down with Vlad TV and recalled a story from 2008 in which he shot a burglar several times during a home invasion. The 26-year-old shared an animated version of his tale as he discussed the time he shot someone who tried to rob him -- with plenty of gun sound effects for good measure. Shortly after the video interview surfaced online, several popular comedians and rappers decided to reenact Soulja’s epic storytelling skills. This launched what is now known as the #SouljaBoyChallenge.

With comedians Michael Blackson and Mike Epps credited as two of the first celebrities to be seen participating in the challenge, it was only a matter of time before internet users started to upload their own #SouljaBoyChallenge videos on Instagram. Rappers even joined in on the challenge as New Jersey MC Joe Budden became the first hip-hop artist to reenact Soulja's story.

Shortly after, rappers such as Lil Durk and Lil Yachty followed up with their own challenge videos. Even the man behind the challenge, Soulja Boy, decided to jump in and partake in the #SouljaBoyChallenge craze by creating a new version of his epic tale.

Since then, the #SouljaBoyChallenge has taken the internet by storm. With the buzz still well and alive, XXL highlights all of the celebrities that have taken part in this hilarious challenge.
