How to get your kids off their devices: Take the tablet away? Too Easy... Shut down the entire town's internet? Now we're talking.

A Father in Messanges, France (population 961) was desperate to limit his children's screen time. His plan was to cut off the internet connection in his home, but instead, he accidentally cut off the internet in the entire town!

A report from the outlet France Bleu says that the unnamed father tried to use a multi-wave band jammer to temporarily cut off the internet connection at his home.

What could be so illegal about turning off your internet? Well, multi-wave band jammers are illegal in France and the U.S. These devices interfere with telecommunication signals, thus stifling connections.

The father wanted to cut off the connectivity to his house at night, between the hours of midnight and 3 a.m. (His kids must be nocturnal if they are up this late on their devices) Little did the father know, the jamming device was too powerful and had cut connectivity to every home in the surrounding area.

When neighbors began reporting their internet power outages, the Government was forced to investigate, eventually catching the father with the illegal device.

The man now faces up to six months in jail and a fine of 30,000 euros. ($34083.74 U.S.)

A little advice for parents: If you want to limit your children's screen time, instead of buying an illegal device to stop your internet connection, just take away their device.
