Just when you thought prolific film producer Will Packer was at the tip-top of his game in the film and television industry, he goes and changes the game! After a record-breaking weekend at the box office for Girls Trip, Packer has announced a TV production and branded-content deal with Universal Pictures and Discovery Communications.

With that partnership, came the opportunity for Packer to have a first-look deal with Oprah Winfrey's OWN. The producer's television projects include the Emmy-nominated remake of Roots and the BET series Being Mary Jane, starring Gabrielle Union.

Will Packer Media will produce various forms of content, including scripted, reality, ad campaigns, and short form projects all on a branded digital platform.

The company has also acquired Russell Simmons' creative agency Narrative_, and will work with Tricia Clarke-Stone to continue developing marketing campaigns and branded content.

This is a power move for Packer, who has already built a successful career producing movies such as Straight Outta Compton, Ride Along, The Wedding Ringer, Think Like a Man, Almost Christmas and many other successful flicks.

Over the weekend, Girls Trip, starring Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish grossed over $31 million, which is the best opening for an R-rated comedy in years.

Will Packer Media offices will be based in Los Angeles, New York and Atlanta. He's currently gearing up to produce Night School, directed by Malcolm D. Lee (Girls Trip) starring Kevin Hart with Hartbeat Productions.
