I don’t know about you, but I’m terrible at filling out greeting cards.

Sure it’s easy to put a silly message when you’re filling out a birthday card, but I do a miserable job when it comes to emotional messages to family and friends.

It’s especially hard when it comes to one of the people you love most in your life.

Today my wife, Lisa and I celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary.  While I can tell you most of the details of our special day, my wife is like an encyclopedia when it comes to the details of our life.

We were married at Holy Ghost Church and threw our reception at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds.  My brother, Joe, was the best man.  I remember not eating much because we were running around talking to all our family and friends who made it in for the big day.   Famished on the way out of town, we gobbled down food from McDonalds on our way to the Goldmoor Inn in Galena.  It was a wonderful day.

So here we are, nine years later.

We have a nice home, three cats and a wonderful 6-year old son named Jacob.

Lisa is beautiful, funny and a hard worker.  While I come home tired at the end of the day, she does the same and still seems to easily tackle laundry, dishes and supper without breaking a sweat.

She is patient and understanding.  She puts up with me when I’m hot and cranky and knows when to give me space and turn on the air-conditioner.

She even lets me leave once a year to go see the Cubs play on the road, because she know how much I love it.

She’s the ying-to-my-yang.  The salt-to-my-pepper.  The chocolate-to-my-peanut-butter.

Lisa, you’re the best.  I love you.

(I wish I could fit this all into a card.)

~Chris
