The Dubuque Regional Humane Society is excited to introduce this week’s special pet: Declan! This 1-year-old, 43-pound bundle of joy is as goofy as he is lovable.

Declan arrived at the shelter very skinny but has been thriving with some special diet modifications and lots of TLC. Now healthy and happy, he’s ready to meet his forever family. True to his playful personality, Declan loves meeting new people and showing off his big, contagious smile.

While he can be a little shy around other dogs at first, Declan warms up quickly and enjoys playful interactions. He would likely do best with a confident canine companion who can give him space to adjust and show him the ropes of play.
