Give Thanks, AND a Home with the Dubuque Regional Humane Society
The Dubuque Regional Humane Society (DRHS) is giving animal lovers the perfect opportunity to make a difference this holiday season. From today, Tuesday, November 26th, through Sunday, December 1st, DRHS is hosting a special event to help adult and senior dogs find their forever homes. During this limited-time promotion, adoption fees for most dogs aged 7 months and older are reduced to just $25, thanks to the generous support of local sponsors.
This initiative, aptly titled Give Thanks… and a Home this Thanksgiving, is part of DRHS's ongoing mission to connect pets with loving families while reducing the number of animals in need of homes. DRHS encourages the community to consider adopting during this special event and provide a deserving dog with a warm, caring home just in time for the holidays.

Adoption Benefits at DRHS
Adopting a dog from DRHS comes with many perks, all designed to ensure a smooth transition for your new furry friend. Every adoption includes:
- Spay or neuter surgery
- Deworming
- Initial vaccinations (distemper, rabies, Bordetella)
- Flea and tick treatment
- Microchipping
- A sample of Hill’s Science Diet dog food, courtesy of Theisen's Home Farm & Auto
Adoptions take about 45 minutes and include a review of your lifestyle to ensure the best match, as well as a thorough discussion of the animal’s needs and history. DRHS reserves the right to refuse an adoption if it is not in the best interest of the animal.

DRHS is Making a Difference in 2024
The Give Thanks… and a Home event is one of many ways DRHS demonstrates its commitment to supporting animals and their families. So far in 2024, the organization has achieved incredible milestones, including:
- Caring for 2,648 animals and helping 1,823 pets find loving homes.
- Reuniting 242 lost animals with their families.
- Distributing over 8,178 pounds of pet food and 3,287 pounds of litter through the Pet Pantry to support community members in need.
- Performing 1,421 spay/neuter surgeries to combat pet overpopulation.
- Engaging with the community through 100+ events and partnerships while logging
- 8,389 volunteer hours from a dedicated team of 213 new and returning volunteers.
Additionally, each week, the Dubuque Regional Humane Society highlights a "Pet of the Week," with Townsquare Media Dubuque. The Pet of the Week is available to be adopted via the Humane Society, and is brought to you by Finnin Kia, a trusted Kia dealer in Dubuque, IA.
