Peosta Man Killed in Grant County Motorcycle Crash: Name Released
A tragic motorcycle crash in Grant County Friday evening, June 6th has claimed the life of 43-year-old Ryan Phillips of Peosta, Iowa.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 8:30 PM on June 6 at the intersection of County Highway C and County Highway X in the Town of Wyalusing. Phillips was heading south on his 2015 Harley-Davidson when he failed to stop at a stop sign, struck a curb, and was thrown from his motorcycle.
Emergency responders from Bagley and West Grant EMS rushed to the scene and transported Phillips to Crossing Rivers Hospital in Prairie Du Chien, but he was later pronounced dead. His motorcycle was heavily damaged and was towed from the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
This incident is a somber reminder of how quickly tragedy can strike on the road, especially for motorcyclists. Cyclists are far more vulnerable than drivers in enclosed vehicles. As the summer riding season continues to pick up, all of us need to be more aware. Whether we're behind the wheel, on a bike, or just mowing the lawn. We all play a role in keeping the roads safe.
Drivers should always take an extra moment at intersections and blind corners. I encourage all homeowners to NOT blow their grass clippings into the street. If you didn't know, this can create dangerous, slippery conditions for bike riders. Additionally, bikers should always remain defensive in their driving, watching for any changes in the road, conditions, or other roadway users. And remember, always dress for the slide, not the ride.
