This weekend was a big one for the Dubuque Fighting Saints and not just in hockey! This weekends match-up against the Muskegon Lumberjacks saw the Saints lose one and win one on 2 super exciting nights of Hockey action. This is how my Friday night with the family started inside the Dubuque Ice Arena.

The kids and I were pumped and ready to roll, but it wasn't meant to be despite the valiant effort of your Dubuque Fighting Saints. And it was an exciting and fun game to be at! Saints were outshot on the evening 25 to 27 with both of Muskegon's goals in open play coming from powerplays. Penalties on the evening definitely affected the outcome of this match; Saints were given a chance to win it in OT with a penalty shot but failed to capitalize before Muskegon scored the only goal in the post-OT shootout. On the Night the Saints collect a point and can feel slightly hard done by some officiating decisions.

Saturday picked up where Friday left off; another nail bitter as the Saints pulled away in the third to win 5-4. Saints were once again outshot on the evening 23 to 20 but were able to capitalize on 2 power plays while at the same time shutting down 4 of Muskegon's total 6 powerplays. Thats 4 points from 6 on the weekend and some very exciting stretches of play.

Both nights were full of community involvement as well with Salvation Army Night on Friday, followed by Military Appreciation Night on Saturday with the military jersey auction following that game and raising funds for your local veterans.

Tune in again this week on Eagle 102.3 as the Dubuque Fighting Saints take on the Chicago Steel this Friday night and the Des Moines Buccaneers on Saturday Night. Both games are coming to you live from our house as Blake Theisen continues to bring you exciting hockey action all season long.
