Killer Mike’s Mother Has Passed Away: ‘I Love U With All My Heart and Soul’ [PHOTO]

It’s been a tough week for hip-hop with the untimely death of Prodigy still on everyone’s mind. Unfortunately, another death happened this week involving Killer Mike’s family. The Atlanta rapper’s mother, affectionately known as “Mama Niecy,” has passed away.

The Run the Jewels member revealed the sad news via his Instagram page on Thursday (June 22). The cause of death is not known. Days prior, Killer Mike went on Twitter to announce that he was leaving Cannes early to be with his mom because she was sick.

Killer Mike posted a photo of his mother in much happier times and wrote an elegant tribute to her. It reads:

My mother has transitioned to be with our ancestors. All those who believe as I do know energy cannot be destroyed only transformed. I pray she is with our elders in someway and that peace and harmony follow them wherever their souls may roam. I love u Denise with all my heart and soul i do! Your children are successful, your house is in order. Your legacy is intact. You are the reason I know with no doubt in my heart My God is A Black Woman. Goodbye Mom. Salutes "Mama Niecy"

It's been a rough couple of weeks for Killer Mike. From dealing with social justice warriors on Twitter to mourning the loss of an ATL rap legend Grip Playz, Killer Mike's patience has been tested. Thankfully, he's still pushing through and living life.
