Lil Mosey has made a lot of noise in a little bit of time. The 16-year-old rapper from Seattle has been killing stages nationwide as an opener on Juice WRLD's Wrld Domination tour and racking up millions of views with every video release. But before all of that, he was just a (younger) kid, jacking for beats.

"I started remaking songs that were already poppin'—it was easier like that," Mosey tells XXL, revealing that his first flip was of the late Speaker Knockerz's "Scared Money," which set the groundwork for Mosey's taste in production.

After getting his start in music while he was in eighth grade, Mosey began dropping tracks of his own. His song "Off White" quickly shot to 50,000 streams after he uploaded it to SoundCloud in 2016 (it's been played 740,000 times on the platform to date). By the time he released "Pull Up" late last year, he was on his way to becoming an online phenomenon. "After I dropped 'Pull Up,' thats when I started really blowing up," he says of the track, which currently sits at 12 million plays on SoundCloud. "They just liked my music."

Mosey is continuing to rise. His latest single "Noticed" is living up to its name—its Cole Bennett-directed video has been viewed 9.7 million views in just over two weeks. Clearly, the kid from Seattle has arrived in a major way.

Despite the early success, Mosey isn't growing complacent. He's working on a project titled North's Best in the fall—it will share the name of his debut 2017 mixtape, but will feature completely different songs.

Age: 16

Hometown: Seattle

I grew up listening to: "One of my main people I look up to is Meek Mill. My brother gave me an iPod—I didn't have no music on it. But then my brother took it. When I got it back three days later, it had Dreams and Nightmares on it. That was the only thing that was on it, so I was listening to that and I would do it every day."

My style’s been compared to: "Music-wise, they be comparing me to Drake."

What’s your most slept-on song, and why?: "I had song called 'I Know'—that shit is fire. That was probably my favorite song from the mixtape. It was just lost in the mixtape."

My standout records to date have been: "It's 'Pull Up' right now, but 'Noticed' is catching up."

My standout moments to date have been: "I performed at Rolling Loud Miami—it was thousands and thousands of people. That was probably the biggest place I ever performed at. I wasn't as nervous as I was when I was walking out on stage. I was standing towards the back and I couldn't see how big the crowd actually was. Once I got out there, that's when I seen there were people hella far back there."

Most people don’t know: "I'm not from this Earth—I'm from Pluto. I moved to Seattle when I was 2. This Earth shit's new to me, it's crazy."

I’m going to blow up because: "I'm the best."

I’m going to be the next: "Superstar, trap star, finesse kid."
