When an interview you didn't really have to do results in a backlash to comments you didn't really want to make, it might be time to question who put you in that chair to begin with.

TMZ is reporting that Lil Wayne has fired his publicist after an interview on Nightline aired against his wishes. Weezy caught a ton of heat after Linsey Davis asked him his thoughts on the Black Lives Matter movement and he said he feels no connection to it. "Don’t come at me with that dumb shit, man. My life matter. Especially to my bitches,” he said.

Wayne has since apologized for the comments. “When the reporter began asking me questions about my daughter being labeled a bitch and a hoe, I got agitated,” Wayne told TMZ. “From there, there was no thought put into her questions and my responses. Apologies to anyone who was offended.” Wayne had said previously that he hadn't encountered racism in America, so the line of questioning seemed intended to evoke a similar response. His camp reportedly sent several emails requesting the interview be canned but the network never responded.

In the days since his comments first hit the news, plenty in hip-hop have responded to them, with a collection of those included below. When asked about the comments during a Reddit AMA, Vic Mensa said, "i think it’s a very ignorant, selfish & isolated position to take. because even someone as big as wayne is just a black man minus all of his ice and fame, and can be treated the same way.”

Reps for Wayne were not immediately available for comment.
