Lil Xan's viral act of self-defense is now reportedly under investigation.

According to a report TMZ published Tuesday (June 11), the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division is leading an investigation into Xan after the rapper waved a gun at a man who allegedly shamed him for his controversial comments about Tupac Shakur's music last Friday (June 7).

The celebrity gossip site explains that the alleged victim went to the police after his publicized altercation with Xan. The officer who heard the story instantly filed a police report accusing the rapper of assault with a deadly weapon.

Authorities reportedly want to talk to Xan to get his side of the story. They are apparently also in search of thorough surveillance video from neighboring business buildings. The footage could help tell the full background story behind the initial argument, the climax for which is shown in a video TMZ released last week.

In a video of the incident, which was recorded at a downtown L.A. gas station last Friday, you can see a man taunting the 22-year-old rapper before Xan ended up pulling a gun on the person.

"The media is gonna try and twist what just happened at a gas station," Xan wrote on his Instagram story soon after the incident. "I was about to be attacked and resorted to having to use self defense. Fuck all you old head ass bitches still talking 'bout that 2pac shit. Live your own life and stop picking on a kid."

Police have the option to present the case to the District Attorney's office or obtain a warrant for Xan's arrest. If the D.A. doesn't view the incident as an act of self-defense, they could charge Xan with a felony which can result in four years behind bars.
