Method Man has booked himself another major gig on the big screen, and this time, it's part of a reboot of Shaft. The famous action movie, which originally aired in 1971, and was updated with a sequel featuring Samuel Jackson in 2000, is getting a reboot that will now include the veteran rapper.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the Staten Island native has signed on to play an old friend of Shaft's nephew, who will be played by Jackson once again as he reprises his role of the suave black detective. Tim Story is slated to direct the film, which is going to come to Netflix, while Davis Entertainment's John Davis and Barris will be producing.

As of right now, the new reboot is scheduled to release on June 14, 2019, but hopefully we can get some teasers and previews before the air date.

It's been a major year for Method Man, who has been doing a lot of work on the small screen including his role on HBO's The Deuceas well as his hosting gig on TBS' Drop the Mic series. He also had a supporting role in VH1's The Breaks in both the television movie, as well as the first season of the follow-up series.

Congratulations to Method Man on landing another big acting gig. Stay tuned for more updates.
