Fans were treated to one of the best years in hip-hop history in 2016, with new albums dropping from superstars like Kanye West, Drake and Chance The Rapper. But it's time to leave 2016 in the past. The new year is officially upon us, which means a fresh collection of projects releasing for your listening pleasure.

Tory Lanez came hot out the gates with two new projects on New Year's Day (Jan. 1), Chixtape 4 and The New Toronto 2. The former body of work contains Tory's melodic crooning over early 2000s beats, including Diddy's "I Need a Girl" (Part 2), Chingy's "One Call Away" and Fat Joe's "What's Luv."

Meanwhile, Chief Keef came out of nowhere with his own mixtape on New Year's Day, aptly titled Two Zero One Seven. The Chi-town artist is primed for a major comeback in 2017, starting things off with a 17-track body of work with production from Lex Luger and Keef himself.

Key! and Reese teamed up for a new project called Been Had Boyz. The ATL rhymers boast about what they "been had" on the six-track mixtape, which features production from K-Swisha, Franchise, Sladedamonsta, KCdabeatmonster and Bobby Kritical, along with one guest feature courtesy of Offset.

Jefe, a.k.a. Shy Glizzy, dropped off a new mixtape called The World Is Yours. In celebration of his new stage name, the D.C.-bred rapper delivers a special eight-track project with features from YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Ralo, Kash Doll and 3 Glizzy.

Finally, PnB Rock and Migos will round out the January releases with their projects GTTM: Going Thru The Motions and Culture, respectively. The latter is one of the most highly anticipated albums of the year, thanks in large part to the success of the single "Bad and Boujee."
