The birthday of the late Nipsey Hussle is fast approaching. Instead of putting on city-wide party, the family of the slain rapper plans to hold a private celebration.

Aug. 15 would have been Nipsey's 34th birthday. The rapper's family has received several proposals about putting on a big event on the day but, according to a TMZ report released on Sunday (Aug. 11), they are still in mourning mode and plan to celebrate the beloved MC in private. They will gather and honor the life and times of the Crenshaw rapper in what will surely be an invite only event.

As previously reported, police are planning on a huge gathering of people to congregate at The Marathon Clothing store, where the rapper was slain back in March, on his birthday. The Los Angeles Police Department plan on having 100 officers in the area during the time in case anything happens.

In other Nipsey-related news, a tower will reportedly be built outside The Marathon Clothing store in honor of Nipsey.

“As a notice to the public, we’re putting up a gate on Thursday, August 1st, 2019, to enclose the plaza at 3420 W. Slauson Ave. to start the early development stages of the forthcoming Nipsey Hussle Tower to commemorate and honor the life and legacy of Nipsey,” reads a message released by the store last month. "The Marathon Clothing Store will remain closed, but you can shop online at TheMarathonClothing.com."

Nipsey appears on Rick Ross' new album Port of Miami 2 via the track "Rich Nigga Lifestyle."
