Russell Simmons Wants $10 Million Rape Lawsuit Thrown Out

Russell Simmons has been the target of 16 sexual assault allegations since November of last year. The latest rape claim against the record industry mogul was filed last month, in which a woman who has been named in court documents as simply Jane Doe alleges Simmons raped her at his hotel room back in 1988. Simmons has now vehemently denied the allegations against him, referring to the lawsuit as a “work of pure fiction” in paperwork filed to the Los Angeles Supreme Court on Monday (April 16.

According to Billboard, the Def Jam co-founder asserts in court documents that he is looking for the case to be thrown out all together because the woman's claims lie outside the state’s two-year statute of limitations.

The plaintiff, legally going by Jane Doe, filed a $10 million lawsuit claiming that she met Simmons at a hip-hop concert along with her son back in 1988. Later that night, she ended up at Russell’s hotel room after attending a party together. She denied his sexual advances and the lawsuit states Simmons then said, “I am going to fuck you or I'm going to fuck your son. You decide.” He then went on to allegedly rape the unnamed victim.

Simmons released a statement to TMZ once reports of the Jane Doe lawsuit became public in March. “I vehemently deny all the allegations made against me,” he contested. “They have shocked me to my core as I have never been abusive or violent in any way in my relations with women.”

The latest lawsuit is the 16th victim to publicly accuse the Queens native of some form of sexual misconduct.
