Sister Hazel Rescued Six Abandoned Kittens Trapped in Their Tour Bus

Nineties rock-turned-country band Sister Hazel found a surprise on their tour bus over Fourth of July weekend: a litter of kittens! The band discovered the six tiny felines after making an 800-plus mile journey from Tennessee to Florida.

"One of our crew guys came into the venue last Friday afternoon and told Kurt Pfister, our production manager, he heard a weird noise coming from somewhere in the bus that sounded like cats," Sister Hazel lead singer Ken Block explains. "Kurt told him we have been having problems with the air compressor and that’s probably what it was. He went out, heard something, shut everything down on the bus, and shockingly heard meowing. The cries were tracked down to the front battery compartment of the bus where it was opened to find six kittens."

According to Block, Pfister then called the bus owner for advice on the easiest way to rescue some of the kittens that were out of reach. However, during the call, he also received some intel on how these furry friends ended up on Sister Hazel's tour bus.

"The owner then told (Pfister) that the mother cat lives in an old abandoned bus on the tour bus company's parking lot in Nashville and she had six kittens a couple of weeks ago," Block continues. "So she must have moved them into our bus. Luckily, one of the employees of the venue in Ocala, Fla. runs an animal rescue, so she took them to get fed and checked out. They seemed okay, but I can’t imagine how loud and windy it was when the bus was on the road!"

The kittens are currently at Melissa Bell's Rescue in Ocala, Fla. and fans/animal lovers are encouraged to adopt these kittens with a great band story!
