According to Winsight Grocery Business, Fareway shoppers now have a new way to pay. The Boone, Iowa-based grocer partnered with Blackhawk Network to allow in-store shoppers to purchase their goods via Venmo and PayPal. This option will be available at 129 Fareway locations.

With the rise in demand for mobile payments and digital options, we’re confident that our partnership with Blackhawk and PayPal will be positive for both customers and our company,” Chief Retail Officer Mike McCormick told Winsight Grocery Business.

Technology is constantly evolving, and people are shopping in new ways these days. This change will make it that much more convenient for shoppers.

How will Venmo and PayPal Payments work at Fareway?

It will be super easy. Customers just have to open their Venmo or PayPal app, click the "scan" button and then select the "Show to Pay" option.

With "63% of respondents reporting they are more likely to shop at a retailer if they accept the digital payments they use, and 73% saying they want to be able to pay the same way they pay online and in-store (according to the report)," the new change makes sense.

Grocery shopping just got more convenient. Thanks, Fareway!
