SNL will take off airing traditional episodes for the next few weeks, but this past Saturday’s outing with Kumail Nanjiani thankfully has more to offer. Watch Beck Bennett skewer CW stars in a cut-for-time sketch that takes on the complications of climate change.

The pre-recorded sketch introduces Bennett as fictional CW Simon Slays star Blake Vilanti (though something tells us Ian Somerhalder is texting his lawyer). Vilanti’s philanthropic side-project Fixing Earth calls upon Kumail Nanjiani’s meteorologist character Dr. Robert Khan to explain the basics of climate change, though Vilanti needs more than a few concepts clarified.

It’s a solid sketch, though pre-recorded bits usually air only once a week on SNL, and “Climate Change” might have lost its slot to Kate McKinnon’s “Kellywise,” which capitalized on IT popularity for a disturbing new take on Kellyanne Conway. Bennett’s pre-recorded sketch with Gal Gadot was also cut the prior week.

SNL will take off this coming weekend, but air a David S. Pumpkins animated special on October 28, and return November 4 with Larry David and musical guest Miley Cyrus. Stay tuned for the latest on Season 43 in the meantime.
