And in other Spider-Man news…It looks like Sony and Marvel are just as pleased as the rest of us with Spider-Man: Homecoming. Following the box office success of the web-crawler’s latest reboot, the studios are reportedly sticking with director Jon Watts for the untitled sequel, slated to hit theaters in 2019. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait that long to see Tom Holland’s charming high school superhero back on the big screen, as the actor is set to reprise the spectacular role in Avengers: Infinity War.

THR reports that Watts is officially in talks to return to the director’s chair for the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. Sony collaborated with Marvel on the latest reboot, which earned $117 million domestic in its opening weekend and has grossed $468.3 million worldwide since its release. The film centers on a younger version of Peter Parker as he juggles the responsibilities of high school and the powerful abilities he has yet to master. Unlike recent iterations, Homecoming really captured the teen spirit of the character and his friends, with Watts citing John Hughes as a big influence.

The sequel to Homecoming remains untitled, but is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 5, 2019. Holland will reprise the role of Peter Parker / Spider-Man in Avengers: Infinity War, which hits theaters on May 4, 2018 and boasts the largest MCU ensemble to date.

As of now, only Holland has been confirmed to return for the Homecoming sequel, though it seems likely that many of his high school co-stars will also reprise their roles — including Zendaya (Michelle), Jacob Batalon (Ned) and Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson).
