Gather Your Hiddlestons, ‘The Night Manager’ Season 2 Might Happen

Placing Tom Hiddleston at the center of a John le Carré was bound to yield results, and AMC’s iteration of The Night Manager had that in spades (awkward Golden Globes speeches aside). Now, despite the story’s end, director Susanne Bier may be looking into a second season, claiming scripts are being developed.

As Bier tells the U.K.’s Broadcast (h/t/ Yahoo), scripts for a potential second season of the Tom Hiddleston-Hugh Laurie-Elizabeth Debicki drama are “slowly being developed,” though there’s no guarantee any of the original cast might return (least of all Laurie, if you’ve watched the series). Says Bier:

We all very much want to do a Season 2, but the thing we absolutely do not want is to do something that does not live up to the level of Season 1, that would be a really bad idea.

For those who missed out on the six-episode miniseries broadcast stateside on AMC, The Night Manager saw Thor and Kong: Skull Island star Hiddleston as hotel clerk-turned-spy Jonathan Pine, pursuing arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie). The series also featured Pirates alum Tom Hollander as Roper’s suspicious right-hand man, Guardians of the Galaxy villain Elizabeth Debicki as Roper’s wife, and Broadchurch favorite Olivia Colman.

Certainly Golden Globes for HIddleston, Laurie, Colman and Biers would perk AMC’s interest in a second season (the ending was also more open than le Carré’s source material), but should The Night Manager try to replicate its success?
