Thundercat has announced a new album coming out early this year, and in light of the good news he also released a new track off the album today, "Show Me The Way." The bass guitarist/vocalist enlisted veteran soul crooner Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins to feature on his latest hit single.

“Show You the Way” is smooth song with several different vibes throughout. This collaboration has been a long time coming for Thundercat, as he's previously expressed his admiration for both artists.

“I’m a big Kenny Loggins fan, and Michael McDonald,” he told The FADER back in 2015. “Those are kind of my heroes…I would even develop my own idea that it has to be honest, or be completely you, from listening to guys like them.”

Thundercat explains the track as an emotional rollercoaster.

“That song to me is about going down the rabbit hole, taking you to another place,” Thundercat said via a press release. “On the edge of dark, there’s the brightest light. It means a lot to me in the sense of… the experience that I’ve had growing up with friends and people that I’ve been around where it’s inviting them into where I come from emotionally. Sometimes it’s a pretty intense thing. The point is how weird things can get. I feel like it’s very funny that, in a way, of course Michael McDonald and Kenny would be there.”

Drunk, will be available for fans on February 24 via Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label. The project also includes features from Pharrell, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa and Kamasi Washington.

A vinyl edition of the album will become available on March 10. It features four red 10” records in a lift-off box. It also comes with photography by Eddie Alcazar and artwork by Zack Fox. Thundercat announced a world tour behind the album as well, which includes appearances at this year’s Coachella.
