‘Arrow’ Season 5 returns to “Lian Yu” for a shocking finale, but did such a compelling retrospective of the series blow its ending? And where will Season 6 go without flashbacks? Find out in our full review!
What if I told you that there was another Star Wars universe very different from the one you know? In this universe, Han Solo doesn’t sound like Harrison Ford and Darth Vader doesn’t sound like James Earl Jones. Here, Princess Leia is played by a Broadway star instead of Carrie Fisher. And Luke Skywalker and C-3PO ... well, actually, those parts are still played by Mark Hamill and Anthony Daniels. Some things are just multiversal constants.
Tom Cruise’s The Mummy is about to hit theaters and launch a new cinematic universe, which, arguably, was the first cinematic universe ever, according to Mummy director Alex Kurtzman in a new featurette. Universal seems pretty optimistic about the quality of The Mummy (or they wouldn’t have announced this whole shared universe thing just yet), which makes us hopeful too. And, come on, Tom Cruise has been in, like, maybe two truly terrible movies throughout his career.
It’s summer, which means it’s the perfect time of the year to stay inside all day and watch TV. Just kidding (mostly). Vitamin D is good for you. But if you find yourself with a long weekend or coming down with that dreaded of all ills, the summer cold, the one thing you won’t have to be is bored, thanks to modern technology and streaming services. And for you lucky who subscribe to HBO NOW, we have the full list of everything coming to the service this June, including new seasons of Veep, The Leftovers, T.J. Miller’s new standup special, and recent releases like Krampus and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
Netflix has been curiously quiet about its animated Castlevania series, leaving most of the promotion to executive producer Adi Shankar. Now, even the first trailer has come from an unlikely source, in the process confirming a July premiere.
Logan stands out from other superhero movies because of its violence, definitely, but also because of its very elegantly understated melancholy. It’s barely a superhero movie at times, instead relying on emotion and character to drive a lot of its scenes, instead of a lot of CGI-laden action sequences. But, if you can believe it, director James Mangold actually had an opening prologue that would’ve made the movie even sadder.
