My wife and I have our own key fob for the Jeep I drive. My wife's key fob hasn't worked for about a year and I never got around to getting the battery replaced. Then my key fob stopped working recently. That's when getting a new battery for the fobs became a priority.

This happened a week ago Friday and that's my busiest day of the week. Thankfully, my wife was available to go buy a couple of key fob batteries so we could have two fully-functioning key fobs (you can play a drinking game with this blog post and take a sip whenever you see 'fob' appear in this post).

She ran the batteries out to the Y105 studios and, before I even had a chance to replace the battery in my fob, my boss insisted that he help me. A few minutes later, my fob was working fine.

As you could probably gather from how long it took to finally buy a new battery for my wife's key fob, getting her battery replaced wasn't a priority. Late last week I sat down and tried replacing her battery myself. I literally spent nearly 10 minutes trying to remove the old battery and STILL don't have the new battery installed!

My boss is on vacation this week, but when he returns on Monday I'll be asking him to clear a few minutes from his almost-certainly-crazy-busy-workload and help me out.

This experience has been humiliating and has crushed my do-it-yourself self-esteem that was building after assembling baby furniture. Fairness in conversation; my boss did use a sweet tool from our Engineer's office to remove the old battery that I don't have around my house.

But seriously, getting a freaking battery out shouldn't be this difficult.
