Ah, the holiday season is here! Soon, you'll probably be catching up with family and, in many cases, friends who have returned home or greeted you when you've returned to your hometown.

Many of us know Thanksgiving Eve is the busiest bar night of the year. Millions of Americans flock to establishments to get their drink on and relive their sophomoric college parties, the pranks pulled with each other in high school or the great times had when your parents were out of town and left you home alone for a few nights.

That's the great part about Turkey Day Eve. The not-so-great part is the people you didn't have as many fond memories of are doing the exact same thing and, in all likelihood, will be doing it in the same bar as you at some point throughout the evening.

This is where the point-and-shoot comes in! It's so corny but effective. It's very simple. Use your hand as a gun (the index finger as the barrel). When you see someone you know from your past but don't want to waste half of the evening conversing with because it's taking away from time you could spend with people you WANT to talk to, point your hand at that person, jerk the hand up as if to mimic a shot fired and simultaneously wink with a semi-genuine smile.

It acknowledges you saw, you recognize/remember and you avoid the said conversation. It's a win-win. I guarantee you, the people you use the point-and-shoot technique with will appreciate it and quite possibly go forward using this tactic themselves.

You're welcome.
